Together

  "Kaoru, I dont like the way they look at you," Hikaru complained to his younger twin, holding him in his arms as they laid together in bed. He lightly pushed a piece of red hair out of his eyes. "It seems like everyone is glancing at you more and more these days." He touched their noses together.
  
  "Hikaru," Kaoru replied, lacing their fingers together. "If you're worried that I'll pay them more attention than I do you, you're highly mistaken. You're the only person I see."
  
  The two had been laying in the bed together for the past hour, just enjoying each others company. Neither had talked at first, neither needed to. It was an unspoken contract between the two. There was no need for unimportant chit chat when they both already knew what the other was thinking without needing to ask.
  
  Though, when the time felt right, Hikaru broke the silence, and had turned to face his twin with a look of concern and sorrow in his eyes.
  
  Hikaru had always been overly-protective of his younger brother, always being the one who spoke out against the crowd. He had always been the one to comfort the other when he was upset. He was always the seme. Always the one in control.
  
  Not that Kaoru was complaining. It made things easier on his part to not have to worry about the world around him if he was always with Hikaru.
  
  In some odd way, they both needed each other. Hikaru couldn't be separated from his twin for long before he began to worry. He never wanted things to change between them. He always wanted this bond to be with them, where ever they went. He never wanted to let go of him. Kaoru knew things would change, and was ready. He knew that Hikaru would find some one else and leave him behind. He was ready for it.
  
  But for the moment, they still had each other. For the moment, they were still together.
  
  "I dont want this to go away."
  
  Kaoru didnt have to ask what he was talking about, he just knew. "I know," he replied, moving up on the bed to let his head rest between the older boys shoulder and chin. "Me neither," he added, wrapping his arm around his waist.
  
  "I never want to see you hurt," Hikaru continued, touching the visible bruise on arm laying on his chest. "Tell me when someone does this. Okay? You tell me next time, and I'll protect you."
  
  It had been happening for a while now, Kaoru was getting bullied at school. Pushed into the walls, tripped in the hall, got balls thrown at him during gym. Whenever he wasnt around his twin, he was being mocked. He was getting picked on.
  
  When Hikaru had found him that day on the floor in the gym with balls scattered around him -the office decided it would be best if they had some separate classes- was the worst experience of his life. He hated seeing his brother look so hurt, so torn, and so much in pain. He felt rage towards whoever did this. He didnt know what he felt when he saw him laying on the floor, but he knew he was about in tears himself.
  
  "Hikaru," Kaoru whined slightly, moving his arm and laying it at his side. "I can take care of myself."
  
  "I dont care," Hikaru's voice was tight with emotion that begged to be let out. "If something were to happen to you-if something happened to you... I couldn't. I wouldn't be able-" he couldn't finish his sentence. His body was shaking and he was hugging his dear love close to him without a second thought.
  
  The younger of the two let himself be hugged, let himself be tugged onto the stomach of his loving brother. "Im fine. I promise." He heard a sigh of relief at his ear.
  
  He could take care of himself. Alone, he felt so much better, like he was his own person. Together, they had built a wall around the two of them, no one could come in and neither could get out. He almost felt numb now that he thought about, being so used to the same thing day in and day out. He'd rather be left alone during most hours, then curl up with his brother at night before they went to sleep.
  
  Hikaru would never understand. He was too fall in the walls to come out. To him, as long as they were together, everything was fine.
